Anything we should know?I was referred to you by Tammy Saltzman who was referred by Robin Caral Shaw who does not actively work in family law at this time. My divorce was signed 7/29/99 and was stamped on 8/2/99. During my divorce I was working for the State of Florida and per Robin, she told me to contact FRS to find out if I had a retirement with them. I contacted FRS and was told that since I only had three years with them and could not be vested until I have 10 years in. I started working with the DoD 7/19/99 and had not received a paycheck, a retirement plan nor had any pension on the books until Aug 1999. During the period of Feb thru Aug 1999, I lost my dad and marriage. I did not review my papers as I was under the impression that my attorney was working for me. I retired 12/31/22, I am in the process of having my package worked via OPM and only then looked at my divorce papers to see the word QDRO for which I had no idea of what it meant. He also terminated his parental rights to not have to pay child support. The same week of the divorce he married the woman he was cheating with. I don't believe that he is entitled to what I worked hard for while being a single mother and taking care for our son. If anything, my son should be entitled to what I worked hard for. If you cannot assist me, I will call Tammy and have her work this new problem I did not have any knowledge of until Dec 2022. Thank you for your time with this matter.
