Anything we should know?
I would like to know the steps and cost to remove a QDRO. Background: On 23 December 2014, I signed the agreement with the Matthew Lundy Law for my ex-husband, Michael Scott Danner, to receive 32.1% of my federal pension. Things have significantly changed for me. On 1 April 2025, I along with 2400 other Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) employees, received a Reduction in Force (RIF) email. Due to the RIF, I am required to retire from the federal government at this time. My intention was to retire at age 65 (6 more years) so that I am eligible for Medicare and Social Security. Mike and I get along well and our two children are in their mid- and late-20s. Financially Mike is fairly wealthy and, in my opinion, does not need my pension to continue his lifestyle. I plan to ask Mike if he would forgo the 32.1% of my pension. If Mike is in agreement, what are the steps to make this happen? I have contacted Kyla Lines, (404-888-3730) the lawyer who represented me in our divorce. She is investigating what might be required by Dekalb County. The divorce civil action file number is: 12CV9830-7. Thanks for your help. Susie Danner (678) 481-3917
